HAMDEN - Amy Caroline Rood, 57 years old, died on July 13, 2015 in Hamden, CT.
Born April 16, 1958 to Robert Tobey Rood and Jean Jenkins Rood, Amy grew up in Branford, North Haven, Wallingford and lived for many years in Meriden, CT.
Amy graduated from UCONN in 1984 and the Computer Processing Institute in 1986. She worked for many years as a Senior Programmer Analyst for The Travelers in Hartford and Anthem Blue Cross in North Haven. She worked very successfully as a consultant in 1998-1999 preparing for Y2K.
Amy spent the last 15 years of her life gallantly fighting Rheumatoid Arthritis and its many debilitating effects. Somehow through all of her struggles she did not lose her spirit or her ability to find joy in little things. She was a passionate reader and the local libraries will all miss her. Her other passions included her niece, her cats, cooking (especially for others) and watching tennis and ice skating.
She leaves her sister Susan Rood Tiso, brother-in-law Philip Tiso, and beloved niece Nina A. Tiso, as well as her lifelong friend Alison Davie-Lewis and many cousins including Judy Rood Bosch, the Kerrs (Lucy, David, Tommy, and Jimmy) and others.
A memorial service will be held at the Unitarian Society of New Haven sometime in the near future.
