KENSINGTON - Barbara L. (Borghi) Silvia, 84, departed this life on November 6, 2016 at the Ledgecrest Health Care Center. She was the loving wife of the late Antonio M. Silvia and a former resident of Wallingford, CT.
Barbara was born in Wallingford on January 28, 1933 to the late Ernest and Rose (Steiniger) Borghi. She attended the St. Mary's School of Nursing in Waterbury, CT and spent her nearly fifty year career as a registered nurse at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury and then at Gaylord Hospital in Wallingford.
She is survived by her five children: Elaine Silvia-White of Berlin, NH, Anthony Silvia of Meriden, Michael Silvia and wife Carolyn Kuczynski of Meriden, David Silvia and wife Patricia of Meriden, and Mark Silvia and his fianceĢ Lisa Roscoe of Marlborough. She also leaves seven grandchildren: Shaylyn Poudrier of Berlin, NH, Lindsey Silvia of TX, David Silvia, Jr., Pasquale Silvia, Nathan Silvia and Paul Zalenski all of Meriden, and Grace Silvia of Marlborough, along with three great-grandchildren: Ricky Williams, Alijah Silvia-Castillo, and Riley Jean Poudrier in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors on Friday, November 18, 2016 at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm Street in Wallingford from 10:00 - 11:00 AM. A memorial service will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at the CT State Veterans' Cemetery in Middletown.
