Charlotte Swatkins Tribute
Charlotte (Germain) Swatkins, 94, devoted wife and dance partner of the late Howard Swatkins departed this life on August 14, 2015 at Masonic Healthcare Center in Wallingford.
Chy was born on Jan. 24, 1921, daughter of the late Alfred and Naomi (White) Germain in Wallingford.
She worked at the Santa Barbara Naval Base during WWII, returning to CT, she worked at GE, the New Haven Girl Scout Council, attended Southern CT State College, received her degree and taught for a few years in the Wallingford Public School System, worked for the state as a Social Worker, then returned to drafting for the remainder of her working life.
She will be sadly missed by her three children, Pamela Swatkins, Robin Hunter (Bob) and Dale Swatkins, 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Charlotte was predeceased in death by husband Howard, her siblings Gloria Hocking, Robert Germain and her best friend and cousin Gladys Howey.
We are extremely grateful for the care and kindness both parents received at the Masonicare Continuum. The staffs of Ashlar Village, Pond Ridge and Ramage 5 have been wonderfully supportive to Charlotte and family.
A memorial service will be held on September 12, 2015 at 10 AM at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Wallingford. Interment will immediately follow in the St. Paul's Church Memorial Garden. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to: Masonic Charity Foundation, P.O. Box 70, Wallingford, CT 06492. The B.C. Bailey Funeral Home of Wallingford has been given care of Charlotte's arrangements.
