Dorothy (Dottie) Anna Neumann Soderlind, 93, wife of the late Arthur E. Soderlind of 60 years, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at Newton-Wellesley Hospital in Boston.
Dottie was born October 8, 1922 in New Haven, CT, a daughter of the late Frederick and Anna (Johnson) Neumann. She was the sister to the late Emilie Hansen and the late Frederick Neumann, both of the New Haven area, and to the late Charles Neumann of Ohio. She was a long time resident of Simsbury, CT then of Farmington and Wallingford, CT and at her passing of Charlwell Nursing Home in Norwood, MA.
She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree at Russell Sage College in 1945. She was in charge of an Operating Room for a short period before pursuing a career as a Private Duty RN on the registry of Hartford Hospital. She retired from nursing in 1987. Dottie was a former member of Bethesda Lutheran Church in New Haven and a longtime member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hartford.
She is survived by her three daughters, Sheryl (Tony) Nikolassy of Norwood, MA; Linda (Paul) Turner of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada; and Deborah (Rod) Shaffer of Washington. She has four loving grandchildren: Matthew, Diane, David and Bethany; and two great-grandchildren: Rebecca and Ethan.
The B.C. Bailey Funeral Home of Wallingford, CT has been entrusted with arrangements. A memorial service will be held after cremation on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 24 Berwick St., Norwood, MA with Pastor Amanda Werner presiding.
