WALLINGFORD - Jack W. McDonald, 86, of Wallingford and formerly of Midland Park, NJ, beloved husband of Norma (Bauer) McDonald, departed this life on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at Hartford Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Jack was born on December 22, 1925 in Newark, NJ son of the late Wilson and Marie (Nichols) McDonald. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II. After his discharge he graduated from Rutgers University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was employed at Frank A. McBride for over 40 years as a purchasing agent until his retirement in 1988. He was a professional engineer and a member of the American Society of Heating and Refrigeration, and also served on the Board of Directors of the Holland Christian Home in Haledon, NJ for nine years. He was an active member of the Faith Reformed Church in Midland Park, NJ having served on the Consistory Board. He was a teacher at Friendship Ministries for special needs and after moving to Ashlar Village became a member of the First Congregational Church in Wallingford. In his spare time Jack enjoyed playing the piano and hooking rugs which he gave to his family and friends.
He will be sadly missed by his wife Norma of Wallingford, CT, and his three children: James McDonald and his wife Gail of Bristol, Lee McDonald and his wife Su Young of Wayside, NJ and Susan Lane and her husband Arthur of Clarksville, MD. Jack also leaves three beloved granddaughters: Maggie, Brie, and Mikol in addition to a great grandson, Grayson.
A service celebrating his life will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the First Congregational Church of Wallingford.
