Jean C. Ackerson

NORTHFORD - Jean C. Ackerson, 89, formerly of East Haven, peacefully entered into rest surrounded by her family on October 28, 2015 at Yale-New Haven Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late Albert Ackerson.
Jean was born in New Haven on January 5, 1926, the daughter of the late Friedolf and Anna (Stankard) Carlson.
She had graduated from the Stamford Hospital School of Nursing. Prior to her retirement, she had worked as a registered nurse at the Hospital of St. Raphael and the Masonic Healthcare Center..
She leaves her loving family including: her sons Albert Ackerson III and his wife Barbara of Clinton, Richard Ackerson and his wife Maxine of Killingworth and daughter Mary Ackerson Stone and her husband Timothy of Northford; her brother Robert Carlson of East Haven and sister Patricia Cappola of West Haven; her eight grandchildren and many great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter Karen Ackerson DeNardis and her son Patrick Ackerson and her sisters Bernice Bellucci and Viola Gill. The family would like to thank the staff of Guilford House for their care for Jean.
Friends are invited to call on Saturday, October 31st from 9:00 to 10:00 am at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm St., Wallingford. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 AM at the Church of the Resurrection in Wallingford. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery. It is suggested that contributions in her memory be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital PO Box 1893 Memphis, TN 38101.
