John Edgar Milne peacefully passed away at Connecticut Hospice in Branford on January 22, 2016 at the age of 89.
Born in Windsor, Canada on August 12, 1926, he was the only child of Stanley Earle and Eva Milne. At the age of 2 moved to the Detroit area of Michigan where he was schooled and graduated Birmingham High School in 1944 with National Honor Society status. Following graduation John enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served until the end of WW II. Following his military service John graduated Michigan State University in 1950 and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Metallurgical Engineering. John enjoyed a very successful career in his chosen eld and worked for domestic and international companies. John's passion for his work continued well after his retirement working as a consultant, publishing papers and lecturing on the subject of metallurgy.
John was a world traveler and visited many foreign and exotic destinations. He enjoyed traveling with his family, theatre, music and classic cars.
John is survived by his daughter Kathleen Milne Stevens, her husband Donald, Grandson Adam Milne Stevens and Great Grandsons Kade and Max Stevens.
There will not be a public service held. As many of his friends will recall, John held his own Memorial Service about 10 years ago while he was alive to enjoy it. If you knew John you would understand. He did things "his way."
