EAST HAVEN - Laura M. Dostie, 90, of East Haven, beloved wife of the late Joseph "Ray" Dostie, departed this life on Friday, August 22, 2014 at the Regency House in Wallingford.
Laura was born on October 24, 1923 in Skowhegan, ME daughter of the late Frank and Katherine (Miller) Dore. She was a homemaker all of her life taking wonderful care of her 9 children and all her family. She loved children and was known simply as "Mom" to so many. Laura was an avid reader, and enjoyed writing poems in her spare time. She also loved flowers and enjoyed gardening.
She is survived by her seven children: Joseph Dostie and his wife Nancy of Guilford, Charmaine Gagnon of North Haven, Peter Dostie and his wife Sarah of ME, Denise Schull and her husband Neal of Hamden, Mark Dostie of Hamden, Brian Dostie and his wife Joanne of Branford and Suzzette Villafana and her husband Darrin of Deep River. Laura also leaves three brothers: Frank and Arnold Dore of ME and Morris Dore of MA, along with a sister Rosalie Spencer of ME and 16 beloved grandchildren, several great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by two sons: Michael and Sean Dostie, a brother, David Dore and two sisters: Lois Moody and Lorraine Leblanc.
All services are private and at the convenience of the family. Interment will take place in Maine. The B.C. Bailey Funeral Home of Wallingford has been entrusted with arrangements.
