MERIDEN - Ruby (Webster) Burgess Kary, 99, of Meriden, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 22, 2016, at the CT Baptist Home. She was wife of the late Russell W. Burgess, Sr. and Rev. Michael Kary.
Ruby was born in New Haven, November 9, 1917 a daughter of the late Edward and Etta Weed Webster.
She was a graduate of New Haven State Teachers College and received her master's degree in Education from Southern CT State University. Until her retirement, she was employed as a teacher with the Wallingford Board of Education. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wallingford, as well as a founder of the Mt. Carmel Nursery School in Hamden, a member of the Susan Carrington Clarke Chapter of the D.A.R., on the Board of Directors of the CT Baptist Homes and a member of their Women's Auxiliary.
Ruby is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Russell and Michele Burgess, of Branford, Edward and Diane Burgess of Portland, Harvey and Diane Burgess of Fairbanks, Alaska, a step-son, M. Loran Kary of Redwood City, CA, two step-daughters, Marla Lembo of Millbrook, NY and Weslie Kary of Oakland, CA, a sister, Eleanor Bradley of Rutland, VT, nine grandchildren, Matthew, Katherine, Meghan, Susan, Daniel, Carolyn, David, Hunter and Ashley, and 5 step-grandchildren, Frank, Lisa, A. Michael, Cordelia and Davina, eleven Great- Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Harvey Webster and step-daughter Donna Morello.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2017, at 1 PM at the First Baptist Church of Wallingford, 114 North Main Street. Inurnment at Cedar Hill Mausoleum in Hartford will be private. There are no calling hours. If friends so desire, gifts in her memory may be made to the charity of one's choice. The B.C.
