WALLINGFORD - Sophie Riss, 97, departed this life on November 7, 2015 at the Village Green of Wallingford. She was the beloved wife of the late John Riss.
Sophie was born in New Britain on April 12, 1918, a daughter of the late Alexander and Anastacia (Kowalcyk) Belomyzy.
She is survived by her nephew Steven (Stevey)Belomizi and his wife Cheryl of Wallingford; nieces: Linda Shatkyvich of Northford (who was also her God daughter) and Nancy Perry and her husband Tom of Higganum; and her sister-in-law, Sylvia Belomizi of Northford. She was predeceased by her brothers: Leo, Peter, Alexander, Vincent and John.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 6:30 to 7:30 PM at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm St., Wallingford. A funeral service will follow at 7:30 PM.
