Virgie Elaine Corriveau

Virgie Elaine Corriveau, 88, departed this life on November 3, 2016 at Midstate Medical Center, surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of the late Francis Joseph Corriveau.
Virgie was born in Lubec, ME on July 23, 1928 to the late Jesse Archer Leighton and Harlan Leighton. She graduated from Belmont High School in Belmont, NH in 1946. She married in 1947, started her family in 1949 and moved to Wallingford, CT in 1962.
While not a veteran herself, her contribution is in those who survive her. Virgie is survived by five sons who all served proudly in the US Navy: Michael K. Corriveau and wife Beth of Ellenton, FL; Gregory K. Corriveau and wife Elaine of Elizabeth City, NC; Kevin D. Corriveau and wife Jean of Wallingford; Brian J. Corriveau and his partner James Henninge of Meriden; and Harlan B. Corriveau and wife Lynne of Higganum. She is also survived by her great-granddaughter Kelly Mason of Wallingford, who was always there for "Nana" whenever she was in need. In addition she was blessed with 20 grandkids and 27 great-grandkids.
She worked at the former Thompson Chocolate Factory and later, after returning to New Hampshire to care for her parents, worked at The State School in Laconia, NH where she retired. Virgie, a strong no nonsense woman, as she would have to be raising five boys, always maintained a fabulous sense of humor in all situations.
The B.C. Bailey Funeral Home of Wallingford has been entrusted with the arrangements. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home, located at 273 South Elm Street, on Monday, November 7, 2016 from 4pm to 7pm.
