Wilbur Canning Tribute
WALLINGFORD- Wilbur Canning, 74, departed this life on May 1, 2016. He was the beloved husband of 50 years to Judith (Hackett) Canning.
Wilbur was born in Lyon Mountain, NY on July 29, 1941 to Wilbur Canning and Winnifred Taylor Canning. Wilbur worked for Pratt & Whitney for over 40 years as a Machinist.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his 6 children: Colleen Brice (Robert), Jill Wilkinson, John Canning, all of Wallingford, CT, Joy Carlson (Russell) of Portland, CT, David Canning (Lisa) of Hamden, CT and Nicholas Canning (Becken) of Colorado Springs, CO. Mr Canning is also survived by his four sisters, Winnifred Everleth, Wilberta Ryan (Wayne), Nancy Garrow (Russell) & Kathleen Rodriquez, and his thirteen grandchildren. He was predeceased by two sisters, Nora Patnode & Hilda Davies and two brothers, Alvin Canning & Michael Canning.
Wilbur was an avid sports fan, taking special liking to the UCONN women's Basketball team and the Boston Red Sox.
A Funeral service will be held on Friday, May 6 at 11:00am at the Church of the Resurrection, 115 Pond Hill Road, Wallingford. Friends may call on Wednesday, May 4 from 4-8pm at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 South Elm Street, Wallingford. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Wilbur's honor may be made directly to Church of the Resurrection or to Holy Trinity School online at www.hts-wallingford.org.
