MERIDEN - Walter J. Kowles, 95, fell asleep in the Lord on August 8, 2009 at the MidState Medical Center in Meriden. He was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Dorothy (Nash) Kowles.
Walter was born in Wallingford on May 17, 1914, a son of the late Stanley and Clara (Gezinski) Kowalczyk.
He was a member of the Wallingford Elks, the Manufacturers Association, and the Christadelphian Church. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed by the Allegheny Ludlum Company.
Walter is survived by a sister Stella DeSandre of Meriden, and several nieces and nephews who were dear to him.
Services will be held on Friday, August 14, 2009 at 2:00 pm at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm St., Wallingford, CT. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1:00 - 1:50 pm. Interment at the Walnut Grove Cemetery will be private.
