Michael E. Smutko

The family of Michael E. Smutko sadly announces his passing on Sunday, October 13, 2019 in Springfield, MA, after losing the battle with his addiction to alcohol.

Michael was the beloved son of Michael S. (Joan) Smutko of Wallingford, CT and Nancy Urquhart-Guerin (Tom) of Warwick, RI. He was a bicentennial baby, born June 28, 1976 in Rockville Center, Long Island, NY.

Michael spent his school years in Wallingford, CT, graduating from Mark T. Sheehan High School in 1994. He was an Eagle Scout from Troop 47, then chartered to Holy Trinity School. Michael moved to Massachusetts after graduation where he had a 25-year career in construction predominately with Local Union 999.

Michael was pre-deceased by his paternal grandparents, Edward and Helen Gulewicz and by his maternal grandparents, Edward and Dorothy Urquhart. He is survived by his loving family of aunts, uncles and cousins and his many friends. We will all miss his big smile and delicious four-star meals.

Arrangements are under the direction of the B. C. Bailey Funeral Home of Wallingford, CT.  There are no calling hours and burial will be private.
