Anna Vandersteenen Tribute

Anna R. Vandersteenen, 88, of Farmington, formerly of Plainville, passed away peacefully Monday, October 11, 2021 at her home.  She was reunited in Heaven with her beloved husband, the late Emile Vandersteenen, with whom she shared 64 beautiful years.

Anna was born on May 17, 1933 in Quenast, Belgium to the late Sante Moro and Emma (Piovesan) Moro. She worked for General Electric as an assembler for 30 years until her retirement. A woman of strong faith, she was a devoted parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church for 40 years. Anna was also a woman of many talents including sewing and quilting, and a phenomenal cook. She could make anything, but was best known for her homemade bread, macaroni and cheese, and her homemade French fries. She loved music; artists such as Lawrence Welk, Pavarotti, Michael Buble, and Andrea Bocelli, as well as musical theater.  Anna enjoyed traveling, spending time at the Plainville Senior Center, watching the UCONN Women’s Basketball games, and spending time with the family she was so proud of.  She will be remembered for her kind and generous spirit, her glowing smile, her sense of humor, and for being the very best Nonna.  She will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Left to cherish Anna’s memory are her five daughters, Marie-Ange Jurovaty, Michele (Joseph) Acca, Veronique (Leonard) Peres, Patricia (Scott) Glass, and Dominique (David) Kall; two sisters, Antoinette (Carlo) Francalangia, and Liliana (Cesare) Quercia; three brothers, Pino Moro, Bruno Moro, and George Moro; her brother in-law Frederico Bragoni, and six grandchildren; Brittany Acca, Lindsay Acca, Matthew Kall, Benjamin Kall, Evan Jurovaty, and Andrew Glass. Besides her husband, Anna was preceded in death by one sister, Rosana (Moro) Bragoni.
