Barbara M Belanger

BRISTOL - Barbara M. Belanger, 84, of Bristol, CT entered into eternal rest on October 13, 2023. Born on October 12, 1939, she was one of three children born to the late Matilda and Charles Woods.
 
Barbara's presence was a source of joy to all who knew her. Her outgoing and bubbly personality could brighten even the gloomiest of days, especially her infectious laughter. She was a friend to many, always eager to lend an ear or offer a kind word. For over three decades, Barbara shared the dance floor with dear friends Jackie and Ernestine. Their bond of friendship was forged through rhythm and laughter, creating a tapestry of memories that will forever live in the hearts of those who shared those moments with them.
 
Barbara was known to greatly enjoy shopping and getting her hair done. In the realm of the culinary arts though, Barbara was not known to be a cook. However, her green bean casserole was legendary, a testament to her ability to infuse love and warmth into even the simplest of dishes. Her love for Newfoundland dogs was something to behold. Her furry companions were more than pets; they were part of her family, offering unwavering loyalty and companionship.
 
But above all, Barbara cherished her family, and her love for her two sons was immeasurable. Her time spent with them was filled with laughter, love, and treasured moments. She was a pillar of strength and support, always there to offer guidance and share in their triumphs.
 
Barbara’s legacy of love and laughter will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her memory will be carried forward by her loving sons and the many lives she touched.
 
Barbara is survived by her two sons, Dale Belanger and Charles Belanger (and partner Gail Esty); former spouse, Dale Belanger Sr.; brother, Richard Woods (and wife Joyce); sister-in-law, Ellen Woods; and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, and her brother, Daniel Woods.  
 
A Visitation to celebrate Barbara's life will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 from 1 to 3pm at Bailey Funeral Home located at 48 Broad St. in Plainville, CT. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations in Barbara’s name be made to The Animal Rescue Foundation CT, 366 Main Street, Terryville, CT 06786, or at arfct.org.
