Carrie Ring Tribute

WALLINGFORD - Carrie Ring passed into eternal life on October 8, 2020 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Carrie was born on July 18, 1917, in L'Etang, New Brunswick, Canada to the late Artemus and Margaret (Danbury) Hatt. She was one of 13 children, all of whom predeceased her except for her youngest sister, Dorothy.

Carrie and her husband Bill emigrated with their daughter, Beth, to the United States in 1951 and resided in Plainville from 1951 to 2017. Carrie worked for American Hardware (Emhart) for 25 years.

Carrie treasured visiting her family in New Brunswick every summer and upon retirement, she spent extended time over the summer months at her beloved "farm" in L'Etang. She enjoyed picking strawberries and making strawberry jam. Carrie was an avid reader, and she loved swapping books with her sister Dorothy and beloved friend, Pearl French. Evenings were spent around the kitchen table at the "farm" playing Skip Bo.

Carrie possessed an independent spirit and lived on her own in her home in Plainville until the age of 100. After some convincing, Carrie went on to live with her daughter Beth and son-in-law, Tom. She enjoyed traveling with them and was always up for a road trip. Together they enjoyed trips to Arizona, Texas, Florida, South Carolina, Georgia, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maine and Canada.

Carrie was a member of Good News Christian Church of Wallingford and enjoyed the distinction of being the oldest member of the church. Carrie's memory will be cherished in the hearts of her daughter and son-in-law, Beth & Thomas Sexton of Wallingford; her youngest sister, Dorothy Anderson, of L'Etang, New Brunswick, Canada and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Masonicare for their excellent care, especially, Nancy, Don and others for their wonderful nursing care. They would also like to thank Alene, Patty and Yvonne Hawthorne for tending so faithfully to Carrie with such love and care as well as Rosemary Porto who provided many delicious meals to them.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Carrie's name may be made to Good News Christian Church, 46 John Street, Wallingford. Calling hours will be held on Monday, October 12, 2020 from 9AM to11AM at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm Street, Wallingford. Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Southington immediately following calling hours. Due to COVID-19, a memorial service will be planned at a future date.
