Cherie Klewicki Tribute

I completed my final chrysalis and transformation on December 25, 2019.  I was first diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 41. I did great for six years and then was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer at the age of 47. I did my best to live my journey with breast cancer the way I lived my life, with as much grace, humor and authenticity as I could manage.

I came into this life on May 28, 1969. I was a lifelong resident of Plainville, CT. I had a thirst for knowledge and have been a lifelong learner. I pursued my formal education by graduating from Plainville High School, Briarwood College, Connecticut Center for Massage Therapy, Charter Oak State College and Central Connecticut State University. The theme of my life was one of healing. My greatest achievement was studying marriage and family therapy and becoming a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.  The knowledge I obtained through this line of study and work helped me heal and transform myself and then bring that healing work to others. I loved spending time learning about myself and others. I thrived on the depth of the connection I developed with people, both personally and professionally. I valued talking, laughing or crying with those closest to me.  Running, swimming, working out or being physically active in some way brought me great joy and happiness.  I also thoroughly enjoyed curling up with a book, a cat, a cup of tea and some chocolate. I learned a lot in this life about compassion and kindness, toward myself and others. This world needs more kindness and compassion than ever, be kind to yourself and others.

I am survived by my parents Joseph and Anita Klewicki of Warrensburg, NY as well as my brothers, J. Kenneth Klewicki and his wife Lisa of Herndon, VA and Jason E. Klewicki and his wife Nichole of Rochester, NY.  My nieces and nephews: Rebekah, Isabella, Elijah, Kyler, and Aubree; as well as many wonderful extended family. I leave behind many special, wonderful and amazing friends for whom I am so incredibly grateful to have shared this journey.  I am also survived by my feline companions Emma and Milo who brought me comfort and smiles everyday.  My beloved cat Ernie transitioned to the next life before me, I join him now.

As someone who understands the need to come together in sacred space to share grief, sadness, tears, joy, happiness and laughter, I invite you to attend my services to honor this life that I lived. Calling hours will be on Friday, January 3, 2020 from 4 to 7 PM at Bailey Funeral Home, 48 Broad St, in Plainville.  A service for my inner most soul in my own words will be held on Saturday, January 4 at 10 AM at Bailey Funeral Home followed by interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery in New Britain, CT. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Saturday morning beginning at 9:30 AM prior to the service.
