Harold Warner Tribute

WALLINGFORD - Harold LeRoy Warner, 90, departed this life peacefully on February 20, 2021 at the Regency House in Wallingford. He was the beloved husband of Linda (Lumb) Warner for 45 years.

Harold was born in New Haven, CT on March 26, 1930 to the late LeRoy E. and Lillian (Smith) Warner.

At a young age he moved to the base of Mount Killington, VT where he and his siblings shared chores with his parents on a dairy farm and logged the property around him. He served his country overseas honorably in the United States Army, serving during the Korean War.

After his service overseas, he moved back to Connecticut to where he could make a living. He loved to work with his hands and learned and excelled at many skills from horticulture, landscaping, fireplace stonework, wood working, engine building and even building/driving a modified dirt track race car. He retired from Plunske’s Garage in 1992 due to health reasons but thrived as a retired man of the house by creating wonderful wooden creations from his mind’s eye, learning the art of cooking, and maintaining multiple gardens throughout his property. He was a man who could not sit for long. When you got him talking about the things he had done over his long life, it was hard to stop him, but it was entertaining.

Beside his loving wife Linda, Harold is survived by his son, Harold L. Warner Jr. of Pennsylvania, his granddaughter, Brandy, of Connecticut, his three grandsons: Jacob, Tyler and Kyle of Pennsylvania, three great-grandchildren: Kerry, Joshua and Christopher of Connecticut and his sister, Barbara (Larry) Wollslager of Florida, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Harold is predeceased by his two brothers, Fulton E. Warner and Alva H. Warner.
