Jeanne (Searles) Hotchkiss

WEST HARTFORD - Jeanne Searles Hotchkiss, 69, of West Hartford, CT, passed away on September 27, 2021, after a courageous five-year battle with cancer.  Born in Hartford to the late Carlton and Laura Searles, Jeanne was raised in Bloomfield, CT.  She graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1970, and in 1974 from Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York, where she earned her B.S. degree in Television and Radio Communications. 

Jeanne served most of her professional career in corporate communications with Security Insurance Group/Orion Capital Companies and was Vice President, Investor Relations when the company was acquired by Royal Sun Alliance in 1999.  She continued working for Royal Sun Alliance until 2001, and then for several more years was a communications consultant, retiring in 2014.  Jeanne was very active in the Connecticut chapter of the International Association of Business Communications during her professional career and served on the Executive Board of the Silver Island Homeowners Association, Inc., Berlin, CT, for several years. 

Jeanne is survived by her husband, Craig Hotchkiss, her son, Zachary Hotchkiss and her daughter-in-law, Emily (Martin) Hotchkiss, her beloved grandchildren, Michael and Avery Hotchkiss, her brother, David Searles, of Windham, N.H. and her sister-in-law Cindy Searles, her sister-in-law Lynn Hotchkiss Sakuma, of Scottsdale, AZ and Lynn's husband Ted Sakuma.

There will be no calling hours.  A non-religious burial will be held in Wooster Memorial Chapel at Fountain Hill Cemetery, 57 High Street, Deep River, CT. on Friday October 1, 2021 at 11am.  Masks will be required inside of the chapel.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made by mail to: Autism Families CT, P.O.
