WALLINGFORD - John V. Conkling, age 83, of Wallingford, departed this life on September 5, 2023 at Midstate Medical Center in Meriden after a short battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Frances D. Conkling for 64 years.
Besides his loving wife Fran, John is also survived by his daughters Laurene Arens, Dawn Morris and her husband Bob, and Kathryn Perreault and her husband Paul; 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother George Conkling Jr. and his sister Helen Petrauskas and her husband Gary as well as many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his beloved cat, Shiloh.
John was born in Milford, Connecticut on February 4, 1940 to the late George Sr. and Evelyn (Pardee) Conkling.
John (Jack) was an amazing cook. He made holidays and occasions special with every delicious meal he prepared. Family meant everything to him. He was always looking out for each and every one of us.
John worked for the State of Connecticut in different capacities over his 38-year career. When he retired, he was working as a Data Processing Manager for the Lottery Division.
The family would like to express special thanks to his Oncologist, Dr. Susan Alsamari and her staff; and also, the staff on Pavilion B and C at Midstate Medical Center.
All services will be private and at the convenience of his family. There will be no calling hours.
