Joseph Roger Binette

PLAINVILLE - Joseph R. Binette, “Roger”, 94, of Plainville, CT, passed away Friday, December 24, 2021 at Ledgecrest Heathcare Center in Berlin.  Roger was born in New Britain on November 25, 1927, to the late Henri Binette and Delphine (Leroux) Binette.  He was the beloved husband of the late Aimee Binette. 

Roger served his country honorably and proudly in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Upon his honorable discharge from military service, Roger began working as a foreman for Fafnir Bearing Company in New Britain.  He worked there for 40 years, until his retirement in 1983.  Roger enjoyed gardening, playing cards, and was a talented wood worker.  He will be remembered for his happy disposition; he was always smiling, for being kind and considerate, and for always putting others first.  He will be missed beyond words.

Roger is survived by his son Marc Binette (Maria) of East Hartford, two daughters, Aline Giroux (Maurice) of Littleton, CO, and Joyce Wheaton (David) of Plainville; five grandchildren; Jennifer O'Brien, Jacob Wheaton, Dylan Wheaton, Alec Binette, and Colin Binette, and two great grandchildren; McKenna O'Brien and Delaney O'Brien. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife Aimee, his sister Aline Binette, and a granddaughter Melissa Giroux.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at 11 AM at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 94 Broad Street in Plainville. Followed by a graveside service at St. Joseph Cemetery in Plainville. Details will be announced accordingly and will be available online.
