WALLINGFORD- Karen (Thompson) Toth, 81, peacefully departed this life on December 5, 2023 at her home in Wallingford, CT. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. Karen was born in New Haven, CT on February 28, 1942 to the late David Thompson and Shirley (Thomas) Thompson. She is pre-deceased by her brother Darik Thompson, and survived by her sister, Hilda Ward of Wallingford. Karen is pre-deceased by her son Raphael Toth (60) of Wallingford. She is survived by her children: James and his wife Randi Toth, Christina and her husband Andrew Lukeski, Marshall, Anita, Lisa and her husband Vincenzo Perretta, Joseph, Sandra and her husband Raymond Pavao, and Anthony, as well as her 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Karen loved to read poetry and the bible, draw flowers, go for walks around town, listen to music like Barbara Streisand, The Rolling Stones, The Four Tops, classical music, and be with her family. She adored and loved to spend time around her children, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was seen as a selfless giver whose life was made full by the love of her family. Those that knew her would describe her as strong, generous, comforting, sincere, and light-hearted with a fun sense of humor. Karen always remembered everyone's birthday and made sure to give a gift or a card. She loved to talk about how proud she was of her family and grandchildren.
As a child, Karen grew up in New Haven. She talked about how she loved to go out with her friends around New Haven in her younger years. As a young adult, she mostly worked as a caretaker for the elderly. At 18, Karen went on to marry and have her first son, Raphael, whom she now joins in Heaven.
She dedicated most of her time towards helping to raise her many grandchildren and was a wonderful caretaker as they grew up in Wallingford. She was generous with her time and resources, especially to those in need. Without a doubt, she was the heart of her family. Karen always had a desire learn new things and share her knowledge. She liked to learn about nutrition, health, natural remedies, and always believed in the strength of people to overcome. Karen was a believer in Jesus Christ, and would say, "When God wants me, he'll take me." Karen passed peacefully in her sleep. Her family is at peace knowing she's in Heaven, and that she loved much, and is loved much.
