Tribute

MIDDLETOWN - Linda Finnigan, 65, departed this life on June 4, 2023 at Middlesex Hospital. She was born in Middletown, CT on January 21, 1958 to the late Charles and Joan (Markham) Flickinger. Linda grew up in East Hampton, the oldest of four children, whom she helped raise with her father after her parents divorced. She was briefly married and had a daughter named Melissa, that she delivered at home alone only to bare the heartache of losing her four years later to Cystic Fibrosis.
Linda had many jobs before retiring from Fosdick in Wallingford as an Administrative Assistant. She lived in many places including Andover, Hebron, Meriden, Middletown and San Jose, CA before ultimately settling in the family home in Cromwell.
Linda loved to make things. She enjoyed sewing her own clothing, knitting, quilting and crocheting. Perhaps what she enjoyed most was passing her skills on to her nieces, nephew, grand-nephew Steven, and anyone who asked. Her specialty was making baby blankets, scarves and hats for family and friends.
Lin loved history, cats, watching old movies, The Cracker Barrel, The Chowder Pot, Star Trek, Game of Thrones, Sex and the City, and Harry Potter. She also loved flying to CA, drives to New Hampshire, tag sales, making Christmas cookies and watching the kids play in the yard.
Lin leaves behind her two sisters: Robbin Ruffino and Susan Harlan; her nieces and nephews: Laurie, Alex (Laura), Jake, Tyler, Sarah, David & Aaron; and her great nephews: Steven, Luke and Killian. She also leaves behind her best friends: Mary Harding, Matt Ruffino and Sue Walden as well as a million skeins of yarn, a hundred knitting needles & hooks and a dozen projects. Besides her daughter Missy, she is predeceased by her brother Charles. Lin will be missed everyday.
Lin's family would like to thank the Water's Edge in Middletown and Middlesex Hospital for her care. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2023 beginning at 11:30 AM at Union Hill Cemetery, 39 Middle Haddam Rd., Middle Haddam, CT. The family asks those attending the service not to wear black. Although there is sadness that Lin is gone from this earth, there is also joyful peace that she is reunited with her daughter Missy and her grandparents. The B.C. Bailey Funeral Home has been entrusted with final arrangements. To leave a message of remembrance, please visit www.BaileyCares.com.
