Marianne "Mitzi" T. Horn

Marianne Dalkin Horn, wife of Peter C. Horn, died on Saturday, July 17, 2021, at Midstate Medical Center in Meriden, CT.  Marianne was 88 years old and has recently been living in Wallingford.  She was born in East Haven on January 10, 1933, where she grew up before moving to Northford. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Ruby Dalkin.

Marianne and her husband Peter were married July 17, 1954 at St. Barnabas Church in North Haven.

Graduating from high school in East Haven, Marianne worked at Sargent’s located on Long Wharf.  While working at Sargent’s, she meet her future husband.  Marianne cherished her time with family and friends.  Marianne loved to craft, blessing many with her hand made ceramics, knitted treasures, or embroidered pictures.  Marianne was a mail carrier in Northford for 12 years.

Marianne and Peter lived in Northford for 33 years until they retired to Florida, living in Daytona Beach Shores for 18 relaxing years, returning to CT in 2010.

Marianne Dalkin Horn is survived by two sons, Peter C. Horn and his wife Dorleen of Austin, TX; Thomas Horn and his wife Olivia of Wallingford; two daughters Cynthia Szombathy and husband Kenneth of Northford; Marianne Horn of Northford; seven grandchildren, Brandon Peltier, Monique Horn, Therese Horn, Matthew Horn, Janine  Colon, Jessica Horn, Peter Horn; and 7 great grandchildren, Keegan and Jake Horn, Chase and Coralyn Peltier, Logan, Lena and Emilia Colon. Two sisters, Ruby Warner of Wallingford; Joanne Condon of Meriden; one brother Thomas Dalkin and his wife Kay of Wallingford.

Marianne’s family wishes to thank the Midstate Memorial staff for their compassion and attentiveness which gave comfort and dignity to her passage.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation from 6:00PM - 8:00PM on Thursday, July 22, 2021 at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 South Elm Street in Wallingford.  A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, July 23, 2021 at 11:00AM.  Interment will immediately follow in All Saints Cemetery in North Haven.
