Norman Leigh Tribute

Norman J Leigh, of Wallingford and Hamden, passed away on Nov 18, 2020. He was born in Burnley, England in 1931, son of the late Percival and Mabel (Tattersall) Leigh. He came over to the US in 1949 settling in New Haven where he met the love of his life, Frances. He joined and proudly served in the United States Air Force where he obtained his US Citizenship. He married Frances in 1955 and they were married for 60 years until her passing.

Norman worked at Avco Lycoming (Textron) as a development technician for over 35 years until he retired. He loved large family gatherings, especially at holidays, working around the house, and was a handyman of all trades. Norman will be fondly remembered for his sense of humor and the stories he would share.

He is survived by his children: Debbie Smith (Dennis Capuano), Stephen Leigh (Ruth), and Maryellen Leigh, his sister Marjorie Adams, his oldest nephew Edward "Leigh" Adams with whom he shared a special bond, and several other nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife Frances, he was predeceased by his son-in-law Richard Smith. Norman moved to Masonicare during his wife's illness and made many friends there whom he cherished.

The family would like to thank the staff at Masonicare on Ramadge 6, as well as the social work staff and clinical care coordinators for all the care and support they provided to Norman.
