DURHAM - Richard R. Rowe, 75, of Durham died January 9, 2020 at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown. He was born January 8, 1945 in New Haven, CT, a son of the late Richard H. and Ida (Tomms) Rowe.
Richard attended local schools in North Haven during his younger years and graduated from Lyman Hall High School in 1964.
Richard Lived in North Haven during the early parts of his life operating a Dairy & Poultry business along with his parents. In 1968 Richard and his parents moved the business to Durham, CT, a larger facility with more land. After the death of both of his parents, Richard sold the business for a horse facility, staying in business himself baying and making hay.
Richard loved the outdoors and farming was in his blood. He was well known and respected by all who knew him. "Richie" as he was lovingly referred to, was a wonderful person, who was always there for anyone in need. He loved his family more than anything.
Richard is survived by a sister and her husband: Ida Mae Iarusso & Ercole M. Iarusso of Meriden, his nephew; Michael E. Iarusso of Meriden, Nieces: Susan Ann (Kevin) Obier Pfeiffer and Carolyn M. Iarusso Werley as well his great nieces: Gillian Gabrielle Pfeiffer, Saralyn Mae Werley, Ashlyn Marie Werley and Shailyn Werley. Richard also leaves behind his fiancé: Caren Ballou. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law: Mary-Jane Rowe -Obier & William Obier of North Haven.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday evening, January 15th, at 6:00 PM at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm St. Wallingford. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation from 4 PM to 6 PM on Wednesday prior to the service. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
