WALLINGFORD - Robert W. Harriman, Sr., a former member of the Milford community and resident of Ashlar Village in Wallingford, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2023, at the West Haven VA Hospital. He was born on December 27, 1926, in Paris, France, and was 96 years old at the time of his passing.

Bob was an accomplished businessman and the proud operator of Harriman Associates, a successful company based in Milford. Through his dedication and hard work, he made a lasting impact in his field. His work allowed him to travel the world, resulting in a lasting appreciation for other cultures.

Beyond his professional life, Bob had a wide range of interests that brought him joy and fulfillment. He was an avid ham radio operator, finding solace in connecting with others across the airwaves. Additionally, he had a passion for chess, spending hours immersed in strategic battles on the board. Bob was also an enthusiastic reader, always eager to expand his knowledge and explore new worlds through literature.

Bob was deeply involved in various organizations throughout his life. He was a cherished member of Ansantawae Lodge No. 89, A.F. & A.M. of Milford and valued the camaraderie and shared values of his fellow Freemasons. Additionally, he was a proud member of the Shriners and the American Legion, embodying a commitment to service and giving back to his community. Bob was also a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, where he continued to connect with like-minded individuals in his field.

Bob served as a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II. He received training as a parachutist and was recognized for his bravery and dedication with the World War II Victory Medal.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Maria (Cobianchi) Harriman, his wife Delores (Dee) Harriman, and his son Robert W. Harriman, Jr. He leaves behind his family, including: his sons Richard (Peggy) and Andre Harriman, nieces Lois (John) Laczko, and Michelle LaFontaine, and nephews Paul (Mary) Fuller, and Alan (Jeanne) Fuller. He is also survived by his former wife Francoise Krueger and several grandchildren.

Bob Harriman will forever be remembered for his dedication, kindness, and passion for life. His legacy will continue to inspire all those who knew him, and his memory will be cherished by his family and friends.

A celebration of Bob's life will be held on Friday, August 11, 2023, at 10:00 AM in the The Hartog Auditorium at Ashlar Village in Wallingford. Interment at the Connecticut State Veterans Cemetery will be private. The B.C. Bailey Funeral Home of Wallingford has been entrusted with the arrangements.

If friends so desire, it is suggested that contributions in his memory be directed to the Blinded Veterans Association (www.BVA.org).

The family would like to express their gratitude to his caregivers at the VA, Dr. McCamley, and Lisa George RN, as well as the staff of Audiology and Katie Wiseman of the Blind Rehab group. Most importantly, to the staff at the VA Hospice unit for their compassionate care.
