Tribute

WALLINGFORD - Salvatore J. Albraccio, 87, departed this life on July 23, 2023, at his home in Wallingford, surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Virginia (Ginnie Dorman) Albraccio and his late wife Catherine (Bohan).

Salvatore was born in New Haven, CT on September 11, 1935, to the late Salvatore and Margaret (Scala) Albraccio. He attended Wilbur Cross High School in New Haven and joined the Air force where he served as a flight electrician. After the service, he went to work at MB Electronics in New Haven and traveled around the world doing work for defense military suppliers. This journey led him and a few of his close co-workers/friends to start Vibration Sales and Service, a company that sold and serviced vibration test equipment. His/their success led them to be purchased by LDS from the UK where they became the US sales and service division. After his retirement from LDS, Salvatore got his real estate license and was an active broker of commercial and residential real estate.

Ever since he was young, Salvatore had a passion for free flight model airplanes. This passion remained until his passing. He enjoyed going to the flying fields in Durham and down to the Egan Center in Milford, where he and his flying buddies would spend time talking, laughing and occasionally flying model planes. This passion was second to his love and dedication to his family. He loved being involved with his grandchildren anyway he could. From sitting through recitals, softball, and hockey games to just sitting on the patio or around the dinner table, he loved his children and grandchildren. He helped most of them learn to drive, watched them all graduate High School, College, and the Academy. He gained a passion for making wine and often spent time with his son-in-law Scott mixing and tasting blends for that ultimate mix. He was always willing to lend a helping hand with whatever project needed to be completed for his family or friends. He was always involved and has left his mark on all that new him. His ability to assess a problem and come up with a solution will be sorely missed by those closest to him. Salvatore led by example and set a high bar for all that new him, he expected and got the best from everyone he knew.

Salvatore is survived by his wife Virginia Albraccio, his son Scott (Chere) Albraccio, his daughter Cheryl (Scott) Thomas, step-son Ryan Waldron, step- daughter Katherine (James) Hromadka, 5 grandchildren; Julia & Amanda Thomas, Christina, Anna & Dominic Albraccio, Cormac Waldron and James Hromadka.
