Sr. Corby Coperthwaite Tribute

Corby a Coperthwaite passed away in Avon, CT.

Corby was born in New Britain and is predeceased by her parents Patricia A Coperthwaite and Walter Coperthwaite. She lived in Forestville most of her life until moving to Bloomfield. She is a Veteran of the United States Army and received an undergraduate degree at CCSU in psychology and later a PhD in psychology at UCONN.

She had a long and successful career in the CT Community College system as Director of Institutional Planning, Research and Assessment. Corby's colleagues regard her as a respected friend and incredibly talented professional in pursuit of greater higher quality education. Even as accomplished as she was, later in life Corby decided to commit herself to God by joining the Ecumenical Community of The Benedictine women of sisters. She rooted herself in Benedictine spirituality and it was there that she became Sister Henry Maris Coperthwaite and was closely associated with Father Henry Frascadore.

Most of us will remember her for her love of all things Christmas, her love of family, her passion for UConn women's basketball, her love of music, genealogical research, and the loyal friend that she was.

Every September she would spend a month in Ogunquit on the southern coastline of Maine. She loved golf and the company of her dogs Jarius and Jarius 2. You will be deeply missed by many family members, friends and colleagues. Until we see you again, Corby, we will miss you and you will never be forgotten. Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul and the souls of all the faithfully departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation to her Church. St. Dominic’s Church, 1050 Flanders Road, Southington, CT 06489. Or The Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarrior.org. Services and burial will be private. The Bailey Funeral Home of Plainville has been entrusted with the arrangements. Leave a message of remembrance at www.BaileyCares.com.
