William Charles (11/18/1953) Canning

William Charles Canning entered into his final rest on December 11, 2020. William was born on November 18, 1953 to the late William T. and Barbara (Stevens) Canning.

William, who was also known as Billy or BC depending on who you asked, spent the majority of his life working as a bus driver, postal supervisor and public safety sergeant. He was a man who wore many hats. He was truly one of the most selfless, generous and caring individuals you could ever have the pleasure of meeting. But above all he was an amazing father who lived for and cared deeply about his children. He volunteered with the Northford Fire Department Company 2 and North Branford Ambulance Company 4 for over 35 years and served as the Fire Department Treasurer for 30 years. He was also a member of the Raging Knights Firefighter Motorcycle Club and Knights of Columbus. After moving to South Carolina, William continued his volunteering ways at the Conway Medical Center while also driving buses and providing homemade peanut butter treats to his local animal shelter.

He is survived by his beloved children Christopher (Emily), Bryan and Nicole; sister, Barbara (Richard) Stainton; uncle, Richard Stevens; aunt, Shirley Stevens; nephew, Richard; and nieces, Richelle and Kara; several cousins and his former wife, Janet, with whom he remained close until his passing, along with mother-in-law Jeannette Carroll and sister-in-law Susan Lake. He will be missed by his four-legged family members Jessica Jane, Junior, Tari, Halle along with fur-grandbabies Mister Snickers and Miss Tootsie Roll.

A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, December 28, 2020 at Most Holy Trinity Church in Wallingford. The family will receive visitors for a walk through visitation on Sunday, December 27, 2020 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm at B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm St., Wallingford. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent in William’s name to the Holy Trinity School (11 N Whittlesey Ave, Wallingford, CT 06492), Northford Volunteer Fire Department Company 2 ( P.O.
