Robert G. Brousseau, 91, of Plainville passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at the Hospital of Central CT in New Britain. He is now reunited with his beloved wife of 62 years, Pauline Brousseau, who predeceased him in 2014.

Robert was born on March 4, 1926, in Saint Camille, Quebec, Canada, son to the late Leon and Lydia (Couture) Brousseau. At the age of 16, he relocated to Plainville and has been a resident ever since. He worked for Stanley Works for 42 years before establishing a 10 year career for Hallmark. Robert had strong religious beliefs and was a loving, brave man, as a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who cherished his family to the fullest. He enjoyed over 16 years of trips to Florida during the winter months with his wife, Pauline.

He is survived by his eight children, Raymond Brousseau and his wife, Kathleen, of Forestville, Roger Brousseau and his wife, Kathleen, of Plainville, George Brousseau and his wife, Elaine, of Berlin, Karen Casey and her husband, Bill, of Plainville, Claire Lembo and her husband, Timothy, of Southington, Denise Ayotte and her husband, Dan, of Plantsville, Mary Ann Maroney and her husband, Tom, of Bristol and Phillip Brousseau, of Plainville; his 14 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; his brothers, Germaine, of Plainville, Cammille, of New Britain, and Clement, of Plainville; his cousin, Frank Brousseau, of Plainville; and many nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his siblings, Paul, Marie, Jean, Ann, Gertrude, Amiee Rose, Majella, Ghislaine, and Benoit.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the nurses on Unit N5 at the Hospital of Central CT and to Robert’s caregivers, Renee Caruso and Joyce Chamberlain, for their loving care, comfort and compassion provided to Robert.

Funeral services for Robert will be celebrated on Saturday, March 18 at 9 a.m. from the Bailey Funeral Home, 48 Broad Street in Plainville to Our Lady Mercy Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Committal services will be held at a later date in Saint Joseph Cemetery in Plainville. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Friday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady Mercy Church, 19 South Canal Street Plainville, CT 06062.
